  • These Pixelated Palms fingerless mitts are making me smile. I bet they would be a great way to use up leftovers from another project...or...handy little mini-skein yarn sets. I can think of endless color combinations:)

  • As a dedicated fan of Bonnie Sennott, one of her newest patterns is on my radar...Fee-bee mitts. About the name, she writes..." 'Fee-bee' is a song of the chickadee, the state bird of Massachusetts, where I live. The lace pattern on the cuff of the mitts reminded me of bird tracks in snow, so I decided to name the mitts after the cheery, inquisitive chickadees who visit my bird feeders and bring me joy all winter long."

  • I've been dreaming about cables and cabled sweaters lately, and this one - Shakespeare in Love - by Carol Sunday is making me happy.

  • If you're a DPN sort of person, this little storage container would probably make you very happy. I love it, except I'm not really a black-and-red person.

  • And, if you love hexagons and little pouches as much as I do, you'll love these.

Podcast Love

I've been adding a few new knitting podcasts to my list that I watch on a regular basis. It wasn't that long ago that I didn't even know about video knitting podcasts...and now I have a list:) Go figure.
Elizabeth Green Musselman, better known as Dark Matter Knits, and her incredibly entertaining podcast, Dark Matter Knits Podcast. If you haven't seen it, check her out. Not only is she full of information, but she has undoubtedly the best podcast voice out there. She does reviews and always has a technique video or tip at the end.
Stacie of Must Stash Podcast was at the Arkansas Fiber Arts Extravaganza, and yes, she is as nice as she seems. She and Steph have a nice easy-going way of chit chatting about all kinds of knitting news.

Southern Girl Knits
Tish McAllister just recently began her podcast, but it's already one of my favorites. Tish is just so happy! You cannot watch this podcast and not feel better. Please go watch it:)

Skein Podcast
Kristen of Skein Yarn has a great podcast about knitting and her yarn biz. She's in Australia and so, of course, I love listening to her accent.  She has definitely developed a good podcast style, and I am amazed at the amount of knitting she gets done while maintaining a full time yarn business! Impressive.

Do you have a list of podcasts?

If you're working stripes, here's a tutorial for carrying your yarn up the side of your work.

Quince and Co. (a fave yarn company of mine) has a new linen yarn, Kestral.  It seems like the perfect springtime knitting.

This lovely Shetland-style lace shawl has captured my attention in the new Wool People 7.

Anybody noticed this new little thing on Ravelry? :

If you have an item favorited or queued, it puts a little symbol in the corner of the pattern on the pattern search page.

Tour De Fleece anyone?
I'm planning to participate in the Tour de Fleece this year, my first time. Have you completed a Tour de Fleece? If anyone has suggestions for a team, I'm all ears!

Spin Off Magazine just announced their new editor, Anne Merrow. From what I can tell, she worked as an editor on spinning books and e-magazines for Interweave prior to being named editor of Spin Off.

If you were a fan of the SpinDoctor podcasts, hosted by Sasha Torres, you'll be sad to hear that she won't be continuing the podcast. But, you can subscribe to her newsletter! She will be doing some spinning related reviews in the newsletter, and she is planning some other new ventures. You can sign up here.

A little handspun sock love is always a good thing.  Check out this flickr group for some handspun sock love.

I like pockets.  If you're like me and enjoy having pockets in your clothes, here's a handy tutorial on adding in-seam pockets to your knitting.  And what the hay - here's another one. Nice.

These adorable felted clogs-and-sock-combo are calling to me!

Here are seven types of seaming for your knits.

This is a fantastic -and simple- way of keeping track of what chart row you are working on.

Here's a great tutorial for japanese style short rows, my favorite method.
Carol Feller also covers this method in her free Craftsy class, Short Rows.  Definitely worth going through if short rows intimidate you!

Spinner's Link Roundup

If you're just getting started with spinning, or even if you've been spinning a short time, you can always use a few good resources for those inevitable questions.  So here are a few of my favorite places:

Ask the Bellwether - This is Amelia Garripoli's blog and boy, is it ever full of useful information.  She also has a YouTube channel.

Beginning Spinning group on Ravelry - This is a great group for newer spinners, and it's a very active forum - so if you have questions, you'll get a quick reply.

Beth Smith Spinning - Beth has a great blog, as well as some how-to videos.  She teaches a lot.  And, she has a book coming out this year "The Spinner's Book of Fleece".  Bonus - she's very funny.

Spinning Daily This is the website for SpinOff Magazine and it's chock full of stuff.  I particularly enjoy reading Amy's blog and the growing list of free e-books they offer.

For some beautiful spinning eye candy - check out Weekend Knitter's blog.  Beautiful, beautiful photos.

I guess I've been living in a hole (nothing new there), but it seems all of the sudden I'm finding knitting video podcasts.  I've listened to several audio podcasts for a few years now, but haven't really seen many video podcasts until recently. I've been enjoying this one.

I haven't been able to sew any hexagons lately, what with my wrist kinked up on me.  But I did find another idea for using them, as well as a way to carry the hexagon making supplies with this great tutorial.

The perfect little warm up for autumn and darn cute to boot.  I might even be able to swing a few more of these with my wrist-induced limited knitting time.

I'd been hankering for a bobbin winder like this one for a while.  That is, until I saw these reviewed on Knitting Blooms.  I think I'll be giving these a try first.

I've been in a real cooking mood lately...and this blog is fueling my adventures in cooking.

This lovely sketchbook/journal makes me want to take garden notes.  (Bonus, the back cover reminds me of the wallpaper in our guest room).

If you're looking for some slow cooker recipes....here's a few.

Handmade fabric stickers...a quick little tutorial if you're in the mood for something crafty.

I'm on a bit of a "summer schedule" around here these days.  It's too hot to keep to a tight schedule, don't you think?  So, I'll just be posting a bit sporadically for the next couple of months.  But when September rolls around, I'll have something new to show you.

Meanwhile, the wonderful things around this ol' world just continue to enchant me...

I love this little print in two of my favorite colors.

I'm finally (finally!) gearing up to try my hand at soapmaking.  I'm gathering supplies and tools, and this summer, I'm gonna do it!

All-wood speaker for your iphone/ipod...yes, please.

Lemon pudding cakes.  Yeah.  And in little wide mouth half-pint mason jars, no less.

And I'm slightly in love with the look of this room (except for the bat thing...that just grosses me out).  Very Goodbye Girl-ish (anybody remember that movie?)

And for a "look" of summer, take a look at Katie Daisy's pins on Pinterest.

Happy Summer!!

If you're looking to try your hand at making your own journal.  Try this one....it's quick and easy! (Elvie Studio).  My Road Trip to New England journal was made following this example.

Another reason to love Village Inn Restaurants.  (Besides the pie.)

Get rid of all those clothes in your closet you never wear.  And make money doing it.

Make a cute little origami business card stand.  Really!

I'm not the only one on a hexagon kick.  Pretty, pretty.

Paper-pieced diamonds.  Hmmm....I might try a few of these for a change from the hexagons.

If you drink any kind of diet soda, please read this.  And then stop drinking diet soda...please.

If you need a creative jump-start, check out this lady's lovely blog and Creative Entrepeneur Toolkit.

Smart Creative Women is a wonderful place to get inspired about your small business!  I've been listening to the interviews with lots of creative women.  Encouragement!

How adorable is this little cross stitch trio?

This is a great infographic for remembering camera settings to get great photos.

Here's some interesting things I've found around the interwebs.

Keep from getting trapped in the rabbit hole of inspiration.

Make It:  Teesha Moore's amazing 16-page journal out of one 15x22 sheet of watercolor paper.  I gotta try this!

A sweet and lovely blog by a very talented young lady.

This one is on the Saturday breakfast list in the not-too-distant future :  baked buttermilk donuts with strawberry glaze...oh yeah!

A very inspiring and fun blog.

An e-course for bloggers if you're interested in developing and growning your blog and/or brand.

How about you?  What have you found lately that's inspiring you?
