A Year of Knitting - May Review

I'm afraid May is sort of the same story as April was, at least as far as finished objects go.  Only one to report. But, I did quite a bit more in-progress knitting this month, and I'm getting close to finishing a few things.

But first...the finished object was the little patchwork pouch I made for my iPad mini:

It works perfectly - keeps it clean and adds a little padding. And it makes me happy to look at it, since it's made from leftover handspun.

I'm still working on 2 pairs of socks for Jimmy.  The Magic socks and this pair of handspun socks for him.

The Bartok Tunic is coming along, now that I've been giving it some regular attention.  I'm on the first sleeve, and I ordered 2 more balls of the yarn, just in case.  The dye lot is a slightly different, but I'm figuring if I need to use it on the sleeves, it won't be as noticeable.

So just a wee little addition to the sketch this month, but every little bit counts, right!?

A Year of Knitting - April Review

April is over and I have not much knitting to show for it! I worked a little bit more on the Bartok Tunic, but it's still just a big blob of sweater.

While I did get the shawl blocked and photographed, I mostly spent time spinning this month. I finished the yarn for the October House SAL, and just barely got the socks cast on.

My pair of mittens were a little too snug for me, so they got frogged. I'm debating going up a size or trying a different pattern.

I am working along on the Lang Jawoll socks, but there's not much to see.

I did make a washcloth:) I believe that is my only finished object.  Ah well, May is here and we shall see what gets finished this month!

A Year of Knitting - March Review

I didn't knit on a lot of things this month, but I did get a lot of knitting done.  Most importantly...I finally finished the Lillia Hyrna Shawl!  Yep, she is bound off.  Just not blocked or properly photographed yet....but soon.

Here is a quick pic of her off the needles:

I love it...it'll be a nice big shawl. Just right for wrapping up in on those cold days.
I did cast on for a pair of socks right at the end of the month:

So, that's a nice blob of color for the sketch:

I think it's time to work on a couple of sweaters:)

A Year of Knitting - February Review

Well, another month has come and gone!  I cannot believe it is already March.  However, there was knitting accomplished.

I finished a pair of mittens for Jimmy:

These are out of the Mork handspun I did a few months ago.  They turned out exactly as I had them pictured in my mind, and they are so lightweight...great!  I'm working on the pair for myself now, so they should be done at the end of this month.

I'm almost finished with a pair of handspun socks for me:

This is the first sock above.  I'm almost to the toe on the second sock.

Although I'm so very close, I'm not quite finished with the Lillia Hyrna Shawl:

I'm a few rows from finishing the next to last chart.  Then the last chart and bind off...and done! It should definitely be a March finish.

I picked up the Bartok Tunic sweater again, and did a little work on it.  I'm close to starting the first sleeve:

I also started and finished a little handspun pouch for a project I'm working on, so I can't show it to you right now.  But trust me...it's real cute.  And you can never have too many pouches, I say.

There's still a lot of white space there...I better get busy!

A Year of Knitting - January Review

To keep myself on track, I'm going to try and do a knitting update at the end of each month.  Hopefully, this will remind me not only to post "the state of the knitting" as it were, but also to keep my knitting goals in the front of my mind!

So, in January...

I finished a pair of socks for Jimmy:

I bought this yarn in Port Clyde, Maine on our trip.  It had a few weak spots, so I'm not going to name the yarn.  I'm also not crazy about the color, and I've offered to over-dye it, but Jimmy says "don't bother."

I finished a pair of socks for myself:

This yarn is from January Yarns, an indie dyer on Etsy.  The color is called Cinnamon Stick, and I love it.

I worked on the Lilla Hernia Shawl:

I'm on Chart B, so I'm getting close.  I knit - frogged - knit - frogged the first few rows of the chart before wising up and working a swatch, then inserting a lifeline.  I never learn...if I'd used a lifeline the first time, it would gone perfectly.  Robin, learn this lesson.  (You may be able to see the lifeline in the photo above.  Ahem.)  Hopefully, this will get finished in February.

I knit on a pair of slippers for Jimmy.  The pattern is Duffers...very easy going so far.
A tiny bit of knitting on the Summer's Over Scarf I started last spring for myself.


And I've updated my little sketch over there in the sidebar to show what's been completed in 2014.  All in all, a good start.  Woot!

And I cast on...

I also frogged this yarn :

I was kntting the Middlefield Pullover from New England Knits, and I just completely lost interest in it.
This is the second time I've knit and frogged this yarn, so I'm hoping the third time will be the charm, because I really like the yarn.  It's Valley Yarns Williamstown, a very soft tweed.
I'm pondering what it will be next -

All in all, I'm pleased with my knitting progress for January, even though there's not much color on that sketch...several things should be finished next month.  Onto February!
