Inspired by Spring

I am sitting in my studio enjoying a sunny view of my front yard, with the daffodils popping up and the forsythia already in bloom.

I am normally a person who clings to the last days of winter, since I love cold weather and wintry days so much. But this year, I find myself eager for spring and warmer weather - kind of a new feeling for me.

Yesterday I spent the day dyeing up all kinds of spring colors, and today I am anxious to cast on a new "spring" thing.  I'm not sure what, but something!

I’m still trying to spin down some of my spinning stash this year. So I thought a spin-a-long sounded like a good idea! We’ll spin through the month of May, and there will be a grand prize at the end of the month!

We’ll take a “free and easy” approach to things - spin a lot, or spin a little; spin for a specific project or a specific yarn type; spin on a wheel or a spindle. So grab your October House fiber and let’s get spinning!

You don’t have to spin October House fiber to participate in the spin-a-long, but to be eligible for a prize you’ll need to spin at least some OHFA fiber:)

Let the plying begin

Finally...finished the blue bfl singles, and I am ready to ply.  I haven't done a 3-ply since I got my new kate, so I'm anxious to try it out.  (One singles is still on the wheel at the moment in the pic above).  Hopefully, it'll be a more manageable affair than the last time, which used a cardboard box and wooden planter!  These 80 degree days are not helping with the spinning...especially wool.  My hands get warm and sweaty, which doesn't help my drafting.

Ajuga - it always makes me happy to see it popping up around the yard...very perky.

But it is nice to see spring.  I just hope it sticks around for a while and doesn't blast right into summer.  We had such a mild winter, I'm afraid it's going to be 150 degrees in July!

The senior dog is already sleeping near the air conditioning vent...in March.  Yikes.
